Tanweer intensifies cooperation efforts with SMEs (Riyada)

The Rural Areas Electricity Company "Tanweer" -member of Nama Group- is redoubling its efforts to empower Omani small and medium enterprises within the framework of the existing cooperation between the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion and the authorities concerned with empowering and promoting these companies.

To this end, Tanweer launched a series of dialogue sessions with entrepreneurs and owners of small and medium enterprises (SMEs-(Riyada)) in its concession areas based. These dialogues aim to bring Tanweer and SMEs (Riyada) closer, enhance cooperation, clarify the mechanisms for benefiting from the contracts offered by Tanweer, and register new vendors through the central supplier portal

The first session was in the Governorate of Dhofar, where Tanweer organised a 3-day session Divided into groups between companiesat its regional office in the governorate. The sessions will continue in other governorates, including Musandam and Al Wusta.

The company`s efforts to expand its in-country value (ICV) footprint via SMEs come in light of the recent directives of the Oman Investment Authority (OIA) to limit contracts with a value not exceeding 10,000 Omani Rials to SMEs(Riyada).

These directives embody the wise endeavors of the government of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to empower local companies and provide the support necessary for their development and advancement to play a more significant role in the Omani economy.

It is noteworthy that Tanweer had previously held the Virtual Contractors Forum in December last year, which included more than 100 contractors and suppliers from SMEs(Riyada). The meeting included exchanging views and identifying the challenges facing these companies during the implementation of projects, the mechanisms for awarding tenders to small and medium-sized companies and introducing the laws and standards applied in the registration of companies operating in the sector.
